  1. Soak package of beans overnight. Wash & rinse ,then boil for 2 hours with enough water to cover the beans. Rinse again and mix with brown sugar, molasses, dry mustard, tomato soup, onion and bacon (if using). Cook in slow cooker for 6-8 hours (try the beans after 6 hours and see if they need to cook longer)
Recipe Notes

NOTE:  one package of beans will make about 6 cups, so you can either double the recipe for the rest of the ingredients or you can freezer 3 cups of the beans after they have been boiled, for later use)

Serve with baked ham, crusty bread or rolls and coleslaw.
